A Life Remembered

Obituary

Barbara Holt, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on December 25, 1951, Barbara lived a life rich in experiences and passions.

A dedicated worker for Mountain Bell/AT&T and Maricopa County, Barbara also pursued higher education, earning a degree in Human Services in 2010. Her intellectual curiosity extended to her love of reading, with a particular fondness for the works of Larry McMurtry. Barbara found joy in creative pursuits, mastering embroidery and crewel work, and delighted in the thrill of thrifting. Her appreciation for beauty was evident in her love for architecture and design, often expressed through visits to museums.

Barbara was a passionate advocate for history, especially Arizona history, and generously volunteered her time at the Sharlot Hall Museum and the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM). Her musical tastes leaned towards Americana and Folk music, and she was a devoted fan of Jeopardy. Her discerning eye for artistry was reflected in her collection of Navajo jewelry.

Barbara is survived by her devoted daughter, Jennifer; her beloved grand-daughters, Mackenzie and Emma; and her brother, Steve. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Kathryn; her sister, Carol; her brother, Robert; and her son, Jeremy.
