He was a woodworking instructor for 4-H in the early 1980’s. 1. It was my pleasure to have been a classmate of Mike’s at Farragut High School in Chicago during the 1950’s. And an even greater pleasure to have spent time with Mike and Billy in Arizona. Truly a kind and gentle man with a heart as big as the helicopters he flew. Mike exemplified our high school’s namesake, Admiral David Farragut, who once said, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!” That was how Mike lived his life. God bless you, Michael, may you find everlasting peace and may Billie and your children find comfort in the promise of the Resurrection.

  2. Billie and family;

    Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of Mike. We are longtime friends of Jim (Mary Ann) Vail, Mike’s high school classmate in Chicago, and heard a lot of good things about him … especially his pride of service to his country.

    I share that same level of pride after my hitch in the Navy in the 70s plus 32 years as a police officer in Wisconsin. I’m quite certain I would ‘ve been proud to know Mike. Unfortunately I wasn’t afforded that opportunity. We’re certain he’ll be missed.

    Fair winds and following seas, Marine. Semper fidelis.
