Obituary

Warren Douglas Minton, 83, passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona on September 18, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Beaver Dam, KY on August 15, 1943, he was the fourth child of Arthur and Edith Minton. He attended grade school in one of the country’s last one-room schoolhouses (Horton School), where his mother was the only teacher until 1958. After receiving an Industrial Arts and Engineering degree from Western Kentucky University, he taught drafting at a local high school, after which he proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1969-1971, serving as a machine gunner on an ACAV in I-Troop, 11th Armored Calvary Regimen (Blackhorse). After being wounded in combat, Warren was awarded the military’s distinguished Purple Heart. After returning to the States, he was employed as a service engineer at Babcock and Wilcox in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. He was later transferred to Lynchburg, VA, where he retired early and opened his own business, developing his passion for photography. In 2018, he and his wife relocated to Scottsdale, AZ where they were able to retire and enjoy the beautiful desert sunsets and warm winters.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith Minton, siblings Laura Ellen Decker of Beaver Dam, KY (1959), John Lowell Minton of Louisville KY (2026), and Alice Minton Brooks of Gallatin, TN (2026). He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 24 years, Cindy Ruffa Minton; two children: daughter, Melissa Minton Grey (Nikki) of Lynchburg, Virginia and son (Charles); and son, Brandon Minton (Dana) of Allen Park, Michigan, and children (Loren, Gabriel and Reese); three stepdaughters: Mary Catherine Hildreth of Krugerville, Texas and children (Jaden, Josiah and Jace Garrett); Ashley Hildreth (Ivan Garcia) of Aubrey, Texas (Sidney, Eden and Nuria Garcia Hildreth); Erin Redick (David) of Morrison, Colorado and children (Law and Clay); several loving nephews and extended family members.

Messages of Love

From family and friends

Rhiannon Morton (Whisler) October 10, 2026
Some people leave a legacy that can never be measured by their accomplishments alone, but by the goodness of their hearts and the lives they touch. He was a proud veteran, a Purple Heart recipient, a talented engineer, and, most importantly, an extraordinary human being whose kindness, integrity, and love defined him. A devoted husband and Cindy’s soulmate, he was truly one of those rare souls who made the world a gentler, better place simply by being in it. I am grateful to have had the honor of knowing him. My heart aches for Cindy as she faces this unimaginable loss. To find a love so deep and a soul so perfectly matched is a beautiful gift, but saying goodbye is a heartbreak beyond words. May she find comfort in the countless memories they shared, the love that will forever be a part of her, and the knowledge that a man as remarkable as he was will never truly be forgotten. His service, his character, and the love he gave so freely will remain his lasting legacy. Sending Cindy and family all my love, strength, and the gentlest of hugs during this incredibly difficult time. ❤️ Rest in peace, Mr. Warren!

We are so sad, for your loss, for not being able to visit sooner, and for the way this year turned out with Aunt Alice, Papa John, and now Uncle Warren. We pray for you Aunt Cindy and will continue to honor the Minton name in life.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful summary about Warren. Though we only got to know him during the later years of his life, he stands out as one of the warmest and genuine gentlemen we have ever met. It was an honor to get to know him and a pleasure to learn even more about him today. Our deepest condolences, love and prayers from our family to Cindy and the family.

We both loved Warren so very much! He was the kindest and most gentle gentleman we have ever met! Our 30 years at Tiny Miss Pageants started with him as my photographer but soon he became close family! Cindy and Warren had a love that was deep and unmatched by many! He will be deeply missed!
